Now is the time to look at your smaller floor plan and decide what works going forward. Measure! Just because it would be nice if it fits doesn’t mean it will. Start with your bedroom(s), then your family area(s). Next your garage, basement, shed. Your downsizing so make sure you’re not cramming as much in as you can. Make sure you can breathe…

What goes

Do the kids want anything? Do the other relatives? Do the neighbors? You get it. You loved that recliner, make sure it has a good home. Do you need all those rakes, shovels and tools. Have a yard sale. Please understand you will not get full value. Think of it as they are taking it away for free.

What to give

Churches, Women’s Shelters, etc. may or may not be looking for tax deductible donations. You won’t know unless you ask. Remember, you’re downsizing and hopefully making your life simpler. Plan it and execute the plan. If all that doesn’t work, I’ll see you at the Town Dump!
