Honoring Heroes: Wreaths Across America

Each December, a powerful tradition takes place across the United States and beyond: Wreaths Across America. This heartfelt initiative unites volunteers, families, and communities in honoring the service and sacrifice of military veterans by placing wreaths on the graves of our nation’s heroes.
Founded in 1992, the program began when Morrill Worcester, owner of Worcester Wreath Company, donated surplus wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. What started as a small gesture of gratitude has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, thousands of cemeteries participate, with millions of wreaths laid in remembrance.
Wreaths Across America’s mission is clear: Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the value of freedom. Through its efforts, the program inspires people of all ages to recognize the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and their families.
Beyond laying wreaths, the program fosters education about American history and military service. Many events are accompanied by stories of valor, resilience, and dedication, ensuring that these memories are not just preserved but deeply understood by future generations.
Participating in Wreaths Across America is a meaningful way to give back, whether by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering at an event, or simply spreading awareness of the cause. It’s a chance to come together as a community and pay tribute to the men and women who gave so much for our freedom.
As the holiday season approaches, let’s take a moment to remember our heroes and embrace the spirit of unity and gratitude that Wreaths Across America embodies.
