Storage Wars……..Self Storage,
Full Service Storage or Portable Units

Deciding where to store your belongings???
Here’s what you need to know!

Full Service Moving Company Storage

What is it?

A Full-Service moving company handles every aspect of your move into their storage facility. A team of professionals will pack, inventory, wrap securely, load and unload into their full-service warehouse.  Typically, the contents are placed into containerized vaults or a designated racking area, which is standard in the moving industry.  The advantage of choosing a mover’s facility is that they are in control and responsible for what goes in and out of their facility.  They know how to wrap and protect all items that are placed in their care, reducing the risk of damage.   The warehouse is typically climate-controlled and monitored by security cameras and alarm systems. This is a hands-off, worry-free experience, providing redelivery to your new location and peace of mind.  You can request access to your items based on the company’s policy, but this is not the best solution if you need continual access to your belongings.

Self-Storage Facility (Traditional Storage Unit)

What is it?

A self-service storage facility is where individuals or businesses rent secure units to store their belongings.  The units may be housed in a larger building or outdoor lot and come in various sizes.  For these storage options, you may hire a mover to transport your

belongings or move them in yourself.  DIY…..You have control of how you arrange, organize and protect your belongings within the unit.  The advantage is that you may access the unit anytime within the facility’s operating hours. There are a variety of unit sizes and may be less expensive than full service.  The advantage of working with a professional mover in a self-storage facility is to ensure that your belongings are wrapped and stored properly, and you are left with enough room to navigate through the unit.  It is wise to communicate this or accompany the moving company to the facility.

Mobile Portable Storage Option (POD’s, U-Haul)

What is it?

Portable Storage containers are delivered to your location for you to load.  Once loaded, the unit either stays on site or the company transports the container to a new location or storage warehouse.  The containers come in various sizes and may be loaded by you, or you can hire local movers to assist.   The appeal is the loading can be done at your own pace and keeping the unit in the driveway is an advantage.  However, not all mobile units are allowed in all neighborhoods or apartment complexes.  These units if kept on location are not climate controlled so beware of drastic weather conditions for furniture and items that may be affected by high heat, damp moisture or extreme cold.
