Moving into a new home is exciting… until you see the mountain of boxes waiting to be unpacked. Suddenly, your living room looks more like a haunted house than a fresh start! But don’t worry — unpacking doesn’t have to be scary. With a few clever tricks and rewarding treats, you can banish the chaos and turn settling into something fun and festive. 

Here are some Magical Moving Tips to help you conquer unpacking this spooky season: 

1. Start with the “Not so Haunted” Essentials

The first night in a new home should be cozy, not chaotic.  Unpack your essentials boxes first which may include toiletries, towels, coffee maker, chargers, bedding and those comfy pajama’s.

2. Don’t let Chaos Creep In – One Room at a time

Tackling too many spaces at once can feel like chasing ghosts. 

3. Treat Yourself to Proper Labeling

Clearly label your boxes prior to the move indicating room and category, such as Kitchen-Glassware, Bedroom 1-Linens this will be the treat you give to yourself.

4. Keep the Monsters Away-Recycle as you go

Break down your boxes as you unpack, this will keep your new home tidy and clutter-free.  Many moving companies will welcome recycled boxes and/or posting on free cycle may help another family that is moving as well. That’s no trick, that’s a treat!

Put on some fun Halloween tunes like Monster Mash, Ghost Busters or Thriller and get all your family involved.  Wear some silly hats, assign rooms and make it a family affair.

Light up your new home with warm lamps or a fall-scented candle and of course a friendly light Jack-o- lantern!! This will fill your home and spirits with a cozy and positive vibe.
