How New Jersey Movers Support Their Communities: NJWMA Members Making a Difference
Most people know New Jersey’s licensed movers for their professionalism, reliability, and commitment to protecting customers’ belongings. But behind the trucks and moving crews is an industry with an enormous heart. Each year, members of the New Jersey Warehousemen & Movers Association (NJWMA) donate time, trucks, logistics expertise, storage space, and essential goods to support families, veterans, shelters, food banks, and nonprofit organizations across the state.
From hunger relief to emergency response, from domestic violence support to youth empowerment, New Jersey movers consistently show that community service is a core part of who they are—not just something they do. Their impact is felt in every corner of the state, and the ripple effect of their charitable work extends far beyond moving day.
New Jersey moving companies participate in a remarkable range of charitable initiatives. They partner with national organizations such as Move For Hunger, Truckers Against Trafficking, and Wreaths Across America, while also supporting dozens of local programs that help families recover after fires, homelessness, or domestic violence. Movers are uniquely equipped to help—after all, they have the trucks, the teams, the warehousing space, and the constant flow of furniture and household items that can be repurposed to assist people in need.
What follows is a closer look at some of the most impactful work NJWMA members do to strengthen our communities.
State & Countrywide Initiatives Supported by NJWMA Members
Move For Hunger – A New Jersey–Born Cause With Nationwide Reach
Move For Hunger started in New Jersey at Lowy’s Moving Service in 2009 and has become one of the most recognized hunger-relief nonprofits in the country. NJWMA members play an essential role by collecting nonperishable food from customers who are moving, running drives during the holiday season, and transporting donations directly to local food banks. Many movers also support USPS’s Stamp Out Hunger event each spring, helping ensure that donated food reaches New Jersey families quickly and efficiently.
Truckers Against Trafficking – Safety Through Awareness
NJ movers also participate in Truckers Against Trafficking, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating human trafficking. Moving companies train their drivers and staff on how to identify potential trafficking situations and how to report them safely. This partnership strengthens statewide awareness and positions New Jersey movers as additional eyes and ears protecting vulnerable individuals.
Wreaths Across America – Honoring Veterans
Every December, NJWMA members contribute to Wreaths Across America, helping transport wreaths and volunteering at ceremonies to honor veterans laid to rest in New Jersey and across the country. Transportation partners are the backbone of the Wreaths Across America effort. Movers and other truckers can volunteer for their “Honor Fleet”, responsible for transporting millions of veterans’ wreaths to a growing number of participating locations worldwide.

Why Do Movers Give Back?
Movers often interact with families during life-changing transitions—after a fire, during a domestic violence escape, following a natural disaster, or at the start of a new chapter. This creates a natural desire to help. New Jersey moving companies are uniquely positioned to make a difference because they have logistical resources, storage space, staffing, and access to household goods that can be easily repurposed for families rebuilding their lives.
A Tradition of Community Service in the NJ Moving Industry
The New Jersey Warehouse & Movers Association is proud to represent companies that consistently lead with kindness, integrity, and social responsibility. From national programs like Move For Hunger and Wreaths Across America to local nonprofits helping families in crisis, NJWMA members continue to demonstrate the powerful impact of the moving industry on communities across the state.
To every mover who donates a truck, carries a box for someone in need, delivers food, moves a family in crisis, or volunteers on a cold morning—thank you. You are the heart of New Jersey’s moving industry.
Happy Thanksgiving !
