Are You Charging for All the Services You Provide

Many movers unintentionally leave money on the table by not charging for all the services they provide.

Stair carries and long carries add time, labor, and physical strain, yet they are often underestimated or overlooked during quoting. If these services are not priced properly, they reduce profitability on every affected move.

Packing materials and labor are another common area where costs aren’t fully recovered. Boxes, tape, paper, and the time spent packing should be reflected in the final price.

Waiting time is also frequently missed. Delays caused by elevators, parking issues, or customer readiness still require crew time and should be accounted for.

Finally, valuation coverage is an important service that protects both the mover and the customer. Making sure customers understand their options and that charges are applied correctly is critical.

With the March 13, 2026 tariff filing deadline approaching, now is a good time to review your pricing structure and service charges. If you plan to update any rates, be sure to complete the tariff bulletin so your tariff accurately reflects the services you provide and the true cost of doing business.
