ATA Outlines Threat of Fraudulent CDL Mills
The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has raised concerns over the growing threat of fraudulent Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) mills, which improperly issue or facilitate licenses without meeting required training and testing standards.
According to ATA, these illegal operations weaken highway safety, undermine legitimate driver training programs, and expose carriers to increased risk and liability. Drivers who obtain CDLs through fraudulent means may lack the skills necessary to safely operate commercial vehicles, putting both the public and the industry at risk.
ATA is urging stronger oversight, enforcement, and coordination between federal and state agencies to identify and shut down CDL mills. For moving and storage companies, this serves as an important reminder to thoroughly vet drivers, verify credentials, and maintain strong hiring and compliance practices.
