Unmarked Moving Trucks…
It is easy to spot the bad guys!

Licensed and reputable movers are required by law to register, maintain, and regularly inspect their equipment. Each truck in their fleet is usually branded with the company name, license number, address, and phone number of the company you hired. All trucks used for in state moves must have displayed on their cab doors their PC/PM number which confirms they are licensed with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. If they are also used for out of state moves, they must display a US DOT Number or MC (Motor Carrier’s Number) also. Reputable movers will at times use rental equipment from national brands like Ryder or Penske, especially in the busy summer months that is perfectly acceptable it is the trucks without any markings at all we are warning against.

To make sure your moving company is licensed and able to legally operate in the State of New Jersey call the Division of Consumer Affairs at 800-242-5846 to verify the license status of any mover you consider hiring.

Professional licensed moving companies should also have a solid track record and excellent customer reviews on sites like Yelp, Google and on their respective websites. You can also check the Better Business Bureau to see if there have been complaints around conduct or operations. When looking for an ideal licensed moving company, prioritize those that belong to professional associations like NJ Warehouse & Movers Association (NJWMA) and the American Trucking Association (ATA).

Do you research and find out about the mover you are looking to hire. #njmoversforconsumers #moversforconsumers
