Why do I need a Licensed Mover for my Local Move?

"I’m just moving a few blocks over."
"I’m just moving across town."
"I’m just moving a few miles."
"Why do I need a licensed mover for that?"

At the New Jersey Warehouse and Movers Association, we hear this all the time:  What could possibly go wrong? The simple answer is almost anything. The same issues you might run into traveling across the country can happen right in your town or even right in your residence.

Here are a few:

  •  The moving truck could be in an accident.
  • The moving truck could be uninsured.
  • The movers might drop the furniture.
  • They may not have all the proper moving equipment.
  • The movers might be dishonest.
  • The movers could fall down the stairs.
  • The movers could hurt their backs.

Unlicensed movers don’t last.  They get stopped by the police and receive fines.  Their vehicles are impounded.  They can’t keep employees.  They close their doors when things go wrong.  They reopen as something new.  You do not want to get caught in the middle of any of these!

If you’re still wondering why let me explain.  A licensed mover will offer you coverage on your goods being moved.  They will have coverage if their truck is in an accident.  Importantly, they will have worker’s compensation if one of their men become injured.

You are more likely to have trained and vetted movers from a licensed mover.  They will have a steadier workforce with more experience.   Your belongings will be treated professionally,  their crew will treat you professionally, and their equipment will be up to par!

A Licensed Mover is invested in his Business!
