Associate Member of the Year 2020

We are fortunate that there are so many associate members that serve the moving industry, and we are thankful that they also dedicate their time and money to assisting our members. Without their support, this association would not be able to hold events that bring everyone together. This Pandemic has made is especially hard for our Associate members, and this member has seen it through, pressed ahead and continued to support us throughout! This year’s recipient is United Brokerage Packaging!

A full line supplier to the Moving and Storage Industry from boxes, to pads, newsprint, blankets, straps, rubber bands, hand trucks and many other items that are used in the Moving Industry.  United Brokerage has serviced the Moving Industry since 1960, with expanding into the New Jersey market in 2015.  United Brokerage strives to help their customers improve the quality of their work, they believe if they can improve the service and products their customers will continue to be successful.  Their philosophy has been to enter into a partnership with every company that they service. Not only does UBP support their customers they make it a point to contribute to our association in all aspects, from singing all night at karaoke to the golf outing beverage cart.  Thank you for your continued dedication and support John, Adam and Ryan.

Mover Member of the Year 2020

Every year NJWMA awards the Mover of the year to the company that best demonstrates the criteria set by the Board of Directors. It is difficult to name only one company as mover of the year because there are many deserving companies. We look at companies large and small that exemplify quality. This may be in the form of internal training, mission statement, local community services, and consumer referrals. We also consider the overall appearance of offices & vehicles and company standards as well as involvement with Association meetings and programs. This year’s company more then meets those qualifications. This year’s winner is Anchor Moving & Storage!

Anchor Moving & Storage was established in 1969 and has been operated as a full-service family-owned business. Mike Jenkins grew up with a father who was an officer in the Air Force and moving became part of his life. Being relocated from base to base every two years proves that moving is more than an address change.

Mike took a position with a local moving company during the summers to help pay for his college education. After college he went to work for a National Moving and Storage company. With dedication Mike earn the top 10 booker in COD sales in the country.

Mike took the opportunity to become owner of Anchor Moving & Storage. Under his leadership the company has seen tremendous growth. Anchor Moving & Storage has been awarded very high profiled jobs, such as moving the contents of George Washington’s New Jersey headquarters, and others too numerous to mention.

Anchor Moving & Storage is more than a moving company, they are committed to their community. Annual Christmas parties for underprivileged children, fundraisers for Give Kids the World, provided Christmas gifts to the local Church and schools.  Anchor Moving works closely with Move for Hunger, and Wreaths Around America to honor our deceased and fallen soldiers.

Mike and his team received an award as a Top Executive of the year by N.J. BIZ Magazine and recognized twice as one of the top 50 fastest growing companies by Inc. Magazine. They have been a member of the NJWMA for many years, therefore has earned the title of Circle of Excellence member.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2020

Every year we review the achievements of individuals within our association as well as within our industry, to seek out a person that has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to the moving industry through dedication and goal achievement. We know that it is very difficult to operate a moving company and deal with a host of issues that range from cash flow to customers and still find time for family. We also know that a company doesn’t grow without strong leadership and gaining the respect of their community and their peers.

Jim Quigley is an active partner of University Van Lines of Rahway NJ, an agent for Atlas Van Lines, and a member of this association for 45 years. Jim has contributed to the success of NJWMA’s training programs by allowing us to use his facility for packing seminars and furniture repair clinics.  Jim has a wealth of knowledge in the industry which he unselfishly shares with fellow movers, you could always call Jim for advice.

Jim joined the Board in 2003 and was active in many events and committees in our never-ending journey to improve this association. We could always depend on Jim to stir up the crowd at our annual convention on Karaoke night. Even though Jim preferred tennis over golf, he often assisted Tracy as her camera caddy at the golf outing for the association.

This year’s recipient has contributed numerous hours and days to the industry that he loves while also managing his own company; we are grateful for his many years of dedication to our association. You can say the moving industry was a large part of his life, therefore it is appropriate that Jim Quigley be selected for this award of lifetime achievement in the moving and storage industry.
