NJWMA is extremely proud of member “Ironman” Eyal Golan,
Chief Operating Officer of Shleppers Moving & Storage.
Where: Lake Placid, NY When: July 25, 2021
After 3 marathons in the last couple of years, 2 half Ironman (70.3) this year (1.2 miles swim 🏊♂️ 56 miles bike 🚴 and 13.1 miles run 🏃♂️) 18 months of training beside 3 months break due to hernia surgery: 2000 miles of biking this year alone, over 1000 miles of running and 120,000 yards of swimming Eyal Golan finally was standing at the starting line of a full-blown Ironman!!!
2.4 miles swim 🏊♂️
112 miles bike 🚴 with very challenging terrain
26.2 miles run 🏃♂️ full marathon
About 18-20 minutes transition between swims and bike and bike and run.
Total time 12.37 hours right where he wanted to be so he could finish in day light!
His main goal was to enjoy it, “I enjoyed the training and I wanted to enjoy the race and I did!”
“Oh, and not to say a single time “WHY…”? Ha-ha and I didn’t everything worked as planned. My swim was faster than my goal by 6 minutes and took 1.18 hours. My bike was slower, but it was strategic, especially due to rain earlier in the morning and wind during the race and took 6.52 hours.
My run took 4.07 hours. Even though I really wanted to break 4 hours my run was great because I didn’t ask WHY, I wasn’t hurting, and I was really enjoying myself.
Last 10 miles out of the 26.2 run 🏃♂️ I got really tired, but it was a given I was going to get tired at some point. I didn’t walk though; I ran through it all. All in all, I loved it so much that I signed up for 2022 already!
Hearing my name at the end called by Mike Reilly (legendary announcer) Eyal Golan, you are Ironman!!!!
